For Blender 3.4x Eevee and Cycles Render
Rinky the squirrel from "Big Buck Bunny"
Original Rig by Nathan Vegdahl, updated by Wayne Dixon
This version includes:
- Added bone groups
Notes on how to use the character
- Put your 3D cursor in the Origin of your scene. Choose File > Link and browse the character file
- Go to the Collections and select CH-Rinky. Make sure "Instance Collections" is enabled. Press Enter.
- The Collection should appear instanced in the Viewport. Select it.
- Choose Object > Library Override > Make.
- If the model is too heavy, enable Simplify in the Render Settings.
- Pose the model to your liking and enjoy!
Press 'N' in the Viewport to access the rig UI under the tab 'Misc'. However, due to a built-in safety in Blender, this appears only if you saved and reloaded your newly created file first (the rig UI script is linked in with the character, but not immediately registered).

i subscribed only because I wanted to download Rinky Character. but unfortunately, the character does not work properly for animation. there is some weird deformation in the mesh when you move character just by root bone. seems like a weight painting issue. please let me know if there is a fix there. Thank you
@mahnaz Hey, sorry to hear there is an issue. I tried both opening the Rinky character file directly and linking into an empty file using Blender 3.4.1. The weird deformation you mentioned is not present, are you sure you're using the right Blender version?
@Beau Gerbrands Thank you for your answer. I am using Blender 3.4.1. I try to describe the problem exactly. It happens both link/append or directly open the character file. when I move just the root bone in pose mode in Y axis (or any other axis) at about Y 20m Location the mesh around the Hips is deformed. this happens just with Rinky character.
@mahnaz Please download the file, the weight painting and rebinding of the meshdeform fixed the issue. Let me know if this works on your end too.
@Beau Gerbrands Thanks a lot. It works perfect :)
@mahnaz You are right! I spent time fixing the issue but other issues popped up that need to be fixed first (quality reasons) before publishing the file. I'll notify you when there is a new version.
