Thank you for the vivid discussion of the NLA editor. I followed Hjalti's advice and set it on fire. But how do I stop it from spreading? There's nothing left of the DopeSheet but ashes, and right now the GraphEditor below is burning like tinder, too!!! As a hardly competent animator, I was actually quite fond of using the NLA Editor. The project I'm working on involves lots of machines and monotonously hopping rabbits - it was great for that! It would be helpful, indeed, if the mixing / blending options for the layers / strips were a little more flexible.
