Project Kickoff!

flag Report Problem

Welcome to our brand new Caminandes 3 blog! We are very excited to announce that we have started production of the upcoming snow-adventure-themed Caminandes episode, and that we will be sharing our progress exclusively for Blender Cloud subscribers.

The Movie

> Experience Patagonian winter, where Koro has to struggle against all odds to get one berry. But this time, he is not alone.

Yep, that's right. We have a new character, it's the cutest little penguin: Oti. There's a few new extra characters too, new snowy environments, an action scene, and more than twice as many shots as the previous episode. All packed in the same 2-3 minutes length.

The Team

We are putting together an impressive team for this production, thanks to our awesome Cloud supporters! Here is the initial credits list:

  • Director: Pablo Vazquez
  • Producer: Ton Roosendaal
  • Story Artist: Matias Mendiola
  • Shaders & Textures: Andy Goralczyk
  • Animator: Hjalti Hjalmarsson
  • Animator: Sarah Feldlaufer
  • Rigging: Juan Pablo Bouza
  • Music & Soundtrack: Torin Borrowdale
  • Software Development: Sergey Sharybin
  • Pipeline & Production Tools: Francesco Siddi

What do I get?

Here is what you can expect from Caminandes 3:

Development Targets

With the support of Sergey and other core developers we expect Cycles speed-up improvements and well as further polish of the animation tools. We will collect all the little things and put them together in nice reports during the project (by the time of writing this there’s already two improvements done!).

Assets

Expect plenty of reusable assets: grass, skies, shaders, textures and models. Especially at the end of the project we will carefully bundle as many assets as possible for you to reuse in your projects, all released as CC-BY or CC-0.

Documentation & Tutorials

Like on the previous Caminandes, we’ll document the process of movie making and tutorials exclusive for the Blender Cloud subscribers.

When is it ready?

The wrap-up of the project is expected to be mid December 2015, and the movie premiere around holidays! (towards the end of the month). Berry Xmas!

Spoiler alert!

We are going to share as much as possible on the Caminandes 3 project, including the full edit in development, so if you want to keep the story a surprise, be careful when checking the content of the Reels folder.

We hope you're as excited as we are! Please leave any feedback in the comments section below.
