After the announcement of the “Stylized Character Workflow” training by Julien, we are back with some more exciting news!
Have you ever wanted to get started with character animation? Using Blender? Keep reading.
The animation team at Blender Animation Studio is producing a “learn by example” course that will gradually introduce you to the core principles of character animation, starting from a simple bouncing ball, all the way up to full-featured character acting.
Blender is our tool of choice. For this reason all principles will be illustrated with it and –most importantly– we will make use of a brand new set of characters, compatible with Blender 2.80.
This character set features a squash-and-stretch ball, a ball with tail, a ball with legs, a humanoid (designed and rigged by Hjalti) and of course Rain! The rigs will be published together with the videos.
Here is an overview of the training. Each topic will be presented as a walkthrough of a fully animated shot, where the animator will break down the key steps of the animation process. The source files for each step will be available along the video.
This is an ever-expanding training, expect more chapters and examples to be added in the future!
This training will be available in the upcoming weeks, stay tuned for a release announcement. Make sure you follow Blender Cloud on Twitter or Facebook to catch the latest news
can't wait for this training!
Very exciting. If I could make a suggestion. One thing that never seems to get covered in blender animation courses I've browsed is how to take a project beyond a single shot. Im not asking for a short film volume of work, just that you cover what it technically takes and best practices to sequence several shots (ie multiple blender scenes) together into what would be a short film
Your Rigging Fundamentals video on YouTube sends one here for download of the rig. However, there is no rig download link. Would you repair the link please?
Super excited!
Can someone help me please? I downloaded the character Victor and was able to follow the first three steps on how to use him. However, step four states, "Choose Object > Relations > Make Proxy..." and I cannot find "Make Proxy". I would really appreciate some help.
great
This will be great! Can you also do some more 2D training?
really cool, will u guys suggest a list of exercises? would b really cool if so. Are u guys going to cover the rigging as well?
@Andre Kling David I second the rigging request, I am currently scouring the internet for a teacher to help me with muscle/fat on rigs, but cannot find it.
This looks excellent, I'm really looking forward to it!
This looks great. You guys are really coming out with a lot of high quality content!
Can't wait for this! When can we expect it to come out (approximately)? :) SO excited.
