Hey guys Since you guys have a decent audience, I think it would be fantastic if you could support this by mentioning it: https://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?436581-Cycles-speedups-crowdfunding-(1-5-to-2x-faster-interior-rendering)
It is an amazing project that is getting far too little attention in my opinion.
I started listening to the podcast last week and I'm already on episode #26. I am sorry if this question has been addressed in a future episode, I just haven't gotten to it yet... Anyway, in that episode someone asked about having .bsdf files. I am not sure if I understood what he was asking, but it sounded like a file format for materials. Some sort of container file for node groups, something we can drag and drop into a .blend file, with all the nodes and textures packed inside the file. This would be awesome to build material libraries without the need of the .blend file. It would also be great for sharing materials. Something similar to Substance materials in both source.allegorithmic.com and share.allegorithmic.com. Has there been any discussion about developing something like this?
nice man!, i've been looking forward for this!
