Report Problem

Today the Blender Studio team is proud to present its latest addition to the character library: the Snow character rig. Snow joins the lineup of stylized characters that started with Rain.

Snow is powered by the same rigging system used by Blender Studio for the Sprite Fright short film, and it offers range of functionality (including a good pose library) that will enable animators to deliver high quality and entertaining performances.

The making of this character has been extensively documented by various members of the team.

  • Julien shared the character design and modeling process
  • Demeter streamed hours of rigging
  • Rik animated the bar scene live

Next to that, Pablico and Beau, supported by Andy and Hjalti, worked on a 13-shot animation demo to push the character rig to its limits. This project alone took a few months and we look forward to sharing more about it.

You can download the Snow rig for free in the Character Library. We would love to see what you create with it.

The hand IK rig seems to be more reliable than the cloud_finger in the current CloudRig.  Are there plans to update the CloudRig cloud_finger?  If not, is there a way to use Snow's version instead?

@Conan edojawa You can go to this link: https://studio.blender.org/characters/snow and then there's a Download button at the bottom right of the image. It took a bit too many clicks to get there from the article, so I added a more direct link.
