Sprite Fright is the new Open Movie, now in production. You can keep up to date with its weekly progress here.
In his new video, Artist Simon Thommes introduces a production lesson on distressed shading, developed specifically for Sprite Fright. Building on techniques from his series Procedural Shading: Fundamentals And Beyond, Simon explains how to create shading effects without having to remodel characters. This includes torn fishnets and cuts in clothing, as well as more straightforward effects like dirt and running mascara.
Simon’s workflow is nuanced, but can be broken into broad, easy-to-grasp steps. Among them: painting masks to control your textures, and using custom properties on objects to dial procedural effects up and down.

It's always inspiring and eye-opener what Simon brings to the table!
