Sprite Fright is the new Open Movie, now in production.
Rik Schutte is the project’s lead animator, with a background including the likes of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Rik is also an animation teacher at the AnimSchool. On Sprite Fright, Rik combines his industry and teaching experience in a new production lesson.
In more than an hour of content, Rik covers a range of topics related to impact shots, using existing walks and expressions as a base. His in-depth advice includes working with the new pose library, grab bones, working the intricacies of rigs, and (as the lesson’s name suggests) dealing with the challenges of projectiles in motion. He encounters and solves problems in a key scene in real time, allowing viewers behind the curtain on his process.
It’s a feature length lesson on a complex subject, so there’s plenty to absorb for all levels.
Rik’s provided a wealth of content for Blender Cloud. Recent highlights include this lesson on rigging characters, and this style guide, revealing the film’s approach to animation.
That is Amazing already, I just can't wait for full movie ;) Really great job
