Lately on Pet Projects…
They did it! Pablo and Rik have finished animating all shots, for our greatest joy. But what is that lighter green on the graph? Seems like a few CBBs (Could Be Better) remain... Our two animators are not out of work yet! Although it was decided that those last tweaks would be integrated into the lighting files only if it is not a hassle.
At this stage of production, we cannot afford to go back and forth too many times, or risk breaking files - and giving grey hair to Andy and Beau.
Regarding lighting, all shots have now been worked on at least a couple times. It's time for fine tuning the ones that are complete, and adding the latest FX and final clouds. As the matte painting work came to an end, Vivien had more time to work on paintovers for lighting.
Simon worked on shading, sprinkled on the two last weeks: the Rocket's made-up wings, with stitching details drawn in with the GeoNodes based linework he set up before...
... and the cat shown in the very last shots. This character has been through some adventures!
As for FX, the small ones were added as the animation shots were done, while the bigger ones went through more iterations. As mentioned in the last article, one example is the smoke from the take off that went through a few different ideas to finally settle on a simulation-free set up.
Tis now the race to our finish line! Tweaking, polishing, thinking about sound design and what will accompany the release... The fun isn't over yet!
