After several months of work, a short film project and a few super-fun animation tests, the Blender Studio team is proud to present the second update of the Rain rig.
Some of the features of the rig include:

Hello, I'm trying to reverse engineer this rig, and I don't understand how the AIM-TAN mechanism bones (for ex "AIM-TAN-Cheek_2_3.L") could have damp track constraints yet the deformation bendy bones still look the same in both pose mode and rest mode. I see that in Rain's rig, her entire face looks the same in both rest and pose mode, except for the eye area. When I try to build the relationships and mechanisms of the DEF, TAN, and AIM-TAN bones, the thing that gets me stuck is that when I enable the damp track constraints for the AIM-TAN bones, it slightly deforms the DEF bones in pose mode. (I know this is because the AIM-TAN bones affect the TAN bones, which then effects the DEF bones). But how come in this rig, the deform bendy bones all look the same in either pose or rest mode? How can I achieve this too? Sorry I kind of rambled on!
Hello all!
Can anyone help me with importing the model correctly?
When I do Append then the Blend file and choose between all folders for folder Mesh, imports the model but I can't get the Textures on it anymore. Also the blend shapes for the face no longer work and I can't move her IK and FK of the arms and legs. And under the mesh he imports a lot of extra edge lines, can I remove them or are they also attached to the Rig somewhere?
I'm happy to hear the instructions.

Thanks in advance!
@Fenna van Dam You want to append the collection "CH-rain" from the Collections folder inside the .blend file. That should work! ^^ Let me know otherwise.
@Demeter Dzadik
Can I email you somewhere?
Some of her textures work, but she's missing her eyes and her color in the layout panel. But when I'm in the Shading tab her hair is on, but the textures of her eyes and eyebrows are still missing. I can't find in the Shading tab in the Nodes whether I have to reload the Textures there? And i try find missing files, never worked.
Some all renders are purple and I can't click them.
And I can't select her joints because when I do I select all the joints. And I get an error about the Blendshapes (Shape Key) folder is empty, can I send you some screenshots?
@Fenna van Dam I think it would be best to keep the conversation here because that way other people who might run into the same issue will also have the solution available (when we find it)! But if you'd like more real-time help, you can find me on https://blender.chat/.

@Demeter Dzadik I just sent you a private message.
Sorry, I meant book nor boom!
Hi. I'm writing a boom about animation at the moment. Can I show the rain rig in the book? s.roberts@csm.arts.ac.uk
@s.roberts I'm not a lawyer but the file includes a reference to the CC-BY4 license, which can be found here, and I think it answers your question: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Sorry for the late response.
Can we see this in the The Stylized Character Workflow training?
@ I would also be interested to see in a training video how to build such a complex rig from scratch. Is it planned to continue the Stylized Character Workflow? Would be nice to see one material, which covers everything there is about character creation.
@szabolcsn The Stylized Character Workflow training is aimed at character artists, but a separate series or two about rigging are on my TODO after Sprite Fright. Also note that the process I used for rigging Rain is a very deprecated workflow at this point that I wouldn't wish on my greatest enemy. When I get around to making some tutorials, I will be showing my current workflow with boatloads of brand new custom tech that was developed throughout Sprite Fright.
