Spring Open Content Overview

flag Report Problem

It’s been a few months since the online release of the Spring. We are incredibly happy with the warm reception the short received on YouTube (over 2M views!) and Vimeo as well as the several festivals that selected and awarded Spring.

A huge thank you goes to the Blender Cloud subscribers who enabled us to work on the film, and to create a and share lots of open content in the process.

Here is an overview of the Spring-releated materials that are available on Blender Cloud.

Selected frames and high-quality renders

In the Press folders you will find a selection of high-quality frames from the film, along with two film posters and a few character renders.

Work In Progress folders

In the Concept Art, Character, Environment and Prop Development folders you’ll find endless variations of designs for elements of the film, from early concepts to the final models.

In the Animation & Previsualization and Shot Progression folders you’ll find the progression stages of every single shots in the short, from the earliest storyboard to the final renders.

Film assets

Standalone versions of Spring, Autumn, the Alpha and Beta creatures are available in the Character folder. Download, play with these complex production rigs and share the results! Make sure you install the BlenRig Spring Script to take full advantage of the rig.

The final version of the film itself is available for download, also in a version without soundtrack, suitable for rescoring.

Film shot production files

Andy went through a few (20!) selected shots and created standalone bundles for each one of them, both for the animation and lighting stages. You can download them from Shot File Selection, open them with Blender and enjoy the total lack of speed of a production file! Do this at your own peril, since the memory requirements of the files can get high.

Walkthroughs and breakdowns

An Open Movie release is not complete without some additional video content. In the Tutorials & Walkthroughs you find a great selection of video content, including several hours of breakdowns of the animation process by Hjalti and Pablo Fournier, breakdowns of the main assets and character models by Julien Kaspar and much more!

We hope you enjoy this timeless treasure trove of content. Thanks once again on behalf of the entire Spring team!
