Our nimble team has continued to work on look development and layout. Like last week, but more and better! As the process continues steadily, we start to get a first glimpse on the look of the film and on the rhythm of the story
Julien moved on with texturing, tackling the clothing of Spring as well as some eye shape details in the model, while Andy worked on an environments test, exploring the lighting of the pillar scene as well as new possible design for the pillar itself.
Hjalti and Pablo continued working on the layout while keeping a conversation going with Juan Pablo about the dog's rig. Almost half of the film has a rough layout pass now, check it out in the Previsualization folder.
Blender 2.8 is going to be big in 2018 – and the Spring project will play an important role in it. In order to push the development of Blender 2.8, Blender Foundation announced the Code Quest: a three-month-long (at least!) workshop during which the core Blender developers will join forces to work on the first 2.8 beta release. Part of the Code Quest will be backed by a crowdfunding campaign, which is running right now on blender.org. Another big part is backed by... Blender Cloud! Your subscription is helping to shape the future of Blender. Give yourself a pat on the back.
You can learn more about the Code Quest in this interview with Ton Roosendaal and Pablo Vazquez, and by checking out the Code Quest page on blender.org.
