Production update! It's been over a month since the team has switched to Blender 2.8, which is now in Alpha stage. As each days goes by, productivity increases together with the quality of Blender and the film itself.
A few days ago, we recorded a quick production log with Andy, sharing the status of the production and giving you a peek of the first part of the actual edit of the film. For the first time ever we are going to share this exclusively with Blender Cloud Subscribers for a couple of days. After that, the video will become public for everyone.
Several shots have almost-final lighting and animation at this point, and we are aiming at the end of the month of July to have the first sequence of the film entirely rendered in good quality.
And now, a couple of work in progress renders.
Finally, Julien recorded a breakdown video of his process for texture painting with Blender 2.8: check it out!
That's it for now, see you next time!
Enjoyed the video! I download new Blender build every time there is one ^^ I am looking forward to continue my paused project 'Luke's Escape' as soon as the beta is out!
I am able to learn quiet a lot from SPRING. Good Luck!
Thanks for the update! Great to see progress, and the renders are looking awesome. Are you planning to make the updates weekly again now that you've moved to the new studio?
I notice Andy has an awesome setup, but doesn't seem to have a graphics tablet. I know everything can be done with a mouse, but for texture painting etc. doesn't a tablet just make everything much easier? Does Julien use a tablet for painting? It would be cool to show any weird hardware that people use in the next update, such as that split keyboard Andy is using :)
Amazing progress folks :) Are you using a custom build of Blender 2.8?
@satishgoda: Thanks! We use daily blender 2.8 builds.
@Francesco Siddi: Great!
Thanks for the updates! Killing it as usual!
@luke Martin: Thank you! Is there any content in particular that you find interesting or would like to see more of?
@Francesco Siddi: make it a real tv show ! XD Seriously i just love al the behind the scenes material and the iterations you go through. different story boards animatics, test renders, concept art. Getting your insight on the process is also really cool.
