Let’s start 2020 with a bang! In the past few months we welcomed a few new team members at the Blender Animation Studio.
Demeter Dzadik (rigger) joined the team a few months ago, and has been mostly working on the Rain character project.
At the end of 2019, Sem Mulder (backend developer) and Mike Newbon (web designer) joined the Blender Cloud development team. Before getting started with the sizeable list of cloud TODOs, they have been helping out with the Blender Conference and the Blender Open Data projects.
Earlier this week, we were finally joined by Simon Thommes –you might be familiar with his Nodevember artwork– and Vivien Lulkowski (concept and character artist). Currently Simon is developing some brand new training, while Vivien is helping out on early visual development for the Cosmos Laundromat series.
Last year has been very exciting in terms of project and content published on Blender Cloud. We were also joined by 2000 news subscribers, a sign of the growing interest in Blender, as well as in the cloud content (open movies and training). It’s our goal for 2020 to continue on this trajectory, and more.
Another article outlining the upcoming projects is coming soon!
Wow, five new people at the Blender Animation Studio/Cloud/Headquarters/Institute/"Whatever" - that either means more training, a new film, more development on the cloud or improvements in blender - or (and thats what i like about blender cloud) all of the above :-)
And they will work on Cosmos Laudromat Second Cycle - i already see quite some artistic things coming in 2020. Please, show a lot of studio-tours and artist/development/studio-meetings - i always love your "behind the scenes" stuff!
Nice to see some new faces on the team! In particular, Simon's node graph work was absolutely insane, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he will do at the studio.
By the way, is there any plan to make regular videos about what's going on at the studio and progress on the open movies? I always enjoyed watching the updates in the past - especially during Agent 237, and hope that they make a comeback, even if Pablo's schedule means they can only be each month or every couple of weeks.
