Subscription System Update

The Blender Cloud subscription system gets an update: improved sign-up experience and membership management.

Report Problem

A couple of weeks ago the Blender web team deployed by new subscription system on Blender Cloud, which makes the process of signing up much easier. A few of the reasons why this was done:

  • to make subscription management available right here in Blender Cloud instead of a separate website (Blender Store), meaning history of payments (orders and receipts) will be easily available.
  • to make it easier for new subscribers to join (no need to go to another website, again)
  • to make subscriptions more easily maintainable for the web-dev and ops teams (obscure issues with subscriptions in Blender Store galore)

Previously, a subscription could be purchased via store.blender.org, which involved more steps and a less streamlined user experience. After several days successfully using the new system for new subscriptions (congrats web team!), it is time for the next step: migrating the existing 8000+ Blender Cloud subscriptions over.

All in all we expect the majority of subscriptions to be moved without problems. However, the process will take a few hours and, considering the "turnaround" of subscriptions is measured in months, we expect some issues to arise a bit after the migration is over.

In case you are an existing subscriber and you are experiencing any issue with your subscription, you can leave a comment here or get in touch directly with us at cloudsupport@blender.org.

@Linda S White currently there are no plans. Keep in mind that this is the Blender Studio main communication channel, we don't usually discuss Blender development here.
