For Blender 2.8x Eevee and Cycles Render

Sintel from the Open Movie "Sintel"

Notes on how to use the character
  1. Put your 3D cursor in the Origin of your scene. Choose File > Link and browse the character file
  2. Go to the Collections and select CH-Sintel. Make sure "Instance Collections" is enabled. Press Enter.
  3. The Collection should appear instanced in the Viewport. Select it.
  4. Choose Object > Relations > Make Proxy...
  5. In the list, select RIG-Sintel. If the model is too heavy, enable Simplify in the Render Settings.
  6. Pose the proxy armature to your liking and enjoy!

Press 'N' in the Viewport to access the rig UI under the tab 'Misc'. However, due to a built-in safety in Blender, this appears only if you saved and reloaded your newly created file first (the rig UI script is linked in with the character, but not immediately registered).

Does this build work in blender 3.0, i'm having problems loading the rig. When i use library overrides the rig doesn't show up. I linked the 'sintel' file instead of the ' CH- Sintel' and it worked, only problem was the arm IK wasn't working.

Hi! When trying to adjust the eyebrows I noticed that one of her right eyebrow controls is not working (the one closest to the middle of her face). The one on the left eyebrow is working fine.

I just attempted all the steps above, however the Misc tab never showed up, even though I accepted the script to run :(

@srlake3d Did you save and reload the file like suggested above? that works for me (i'm testing this with the current version of Blender 2.8 with factory defaults)

@srlake3d I did a quick recording of all the steps and it all seems to be in order (it's best o allow running of scripts permanently of course, that way you don't have to confirm all the time):

Hi, Just tried it on Blender 2.8 and it work. But it's very slow when I go in pose mode and try to pose the character. When only viewing the character and looking in the scene it's really fast. When I use the G key and try to move a controller, it's getting less than 1fps, have to wait to see it at the new position. Any idea?

My video card is a GTX 1080 running with a Intel I7; So I must have done something. Must mention it's my first time trying to pose a character from a rig from an instance. I usualy use blender only for modeling...

@christian6 Is it still slow with simplify enabled and a subsurf cap of 0?

I have a problem. After I pressed "Make Proxy...", I couldn't find RIG-Sintel on the list. Can you help fix it up, please?

@Ian Bunce Whoops, my mistake! (Collections got mixed up). File should be fixed now.

If you don't want to download the file again, here's what I did:

Open the file and Shift+Drag (link) the collection 'Sintel Rig' into the collection 'CH-Sintel'. Right click on the collection 'Sintel Rig' and choose Visibility > Disable in Viewports and save it. (This fixes rig widgets floating around in the linked in collection)

When you re-open your animation file, the rig should hopefully be proxify-able. :)

I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
