Meet Rex, Sprite Frights resident Alpha dog - cricket champion and snail hater. Grab the full character rig with poses and expressions bundled together.
This asset currently requires Blender 3.3-3.6, and may break on lower or higher versions!
If you have run into any problems, let us know in the comments below. If you make something cool with him, make sure to show it to us!
I finished animating this character, but when I render it, there is hair behind the character, it is not connected to the character, how can I fix it?
@kemal kordon There is a script in the .blend file that is responsible for moving the particle hair where it should be, called rigged_particle_hair.py. This should execute automatically when you load the file. So if you get a prompt asking you to execute python scripts, you need to allow it for the particle hair to deform. Also make sure to use Blender 3.3-3.6, I've added that to the description of the asset now.
I'm searching YouTube but can't find anywhere a step-by-step to get this rig working beyond the steps 1-4 listed here in text. Like, how does the library work? I can't seem to access it. It says it moved to the asset shelf, when I go to there, it's empty. I also can't find how to access rig features like ik/fk switching etc. that seem to be shown in screenshots I've seen. Can't find a walk through on YouTube, so if someone has one would love to see it. I did download and install cloudrig add on to rigify, I noticed that in the 'N' menu sidebar thing, but that's absent the rig features I'm expecting seeing. Is this possibly because I have Blender 4.0? Thanks for any help getting going!
@Lucas Ridley The rig UI won't work in 4.0, so I would recommend using 3.6 for this one until it gets updated. I added that to the asset's description now. Sorry for the late response.
Hi. When I import the rig into a scene using Link, it doesn't come with pose library. How can I fix that?
@Vexa You can append the Action datablocks from the file, as a separate step. Or alternatively, add an Asset Folder in your user preferences, pointing at the folder where you downloaded Rex. Hope that helps! :)
hi its great, but i use blender 3.2 and my pose library is empty. how can i use the acts like in the picture?
@mohsen You can append the Action datablocks from the file, as a separate step. Or alternatively, add an Asset Folder in your user preferences, pointing at the folder where you downloaded Rex. Hope that helps! :)
I am getting errors like "Cannot find lib 'C:\Work\scripts\cloudrig.blend'", "Cannot find lib 'C:\Work\scripts\rigged_particle_hair.blend'" and a few more. I guessed the rig need CloudRig so I tried to install it but CloudRig for 2.92~2.93 is the latest.
@Hyunseok Ryu Thanks, it should be fixed now!
@Demeter - Cool rig so far, but I would recommend making things like shoulders and neck visible by default instead of all the head shaper controls. Perhaps you could add a brief section on "how to use this rig" in the Readme as well?
@bombkat15 Good suggestion, I've made the shoulders, neck and head assigned to both the IK and FK layers, and gave them better bone shapes.
@Demeter Dzadik Thanks for doing that!
This is not the character Rex, this is just a cube!!!
@Thomas Burns If you appended the Rex rig collection, he might be hiding inside the cube. Try just opening the file rex_packed instead! When you create a New scene from scratch the cube will always show up - to avoid this happening every time you create a new file, delete the cube (and anything else you don't want) and go to File->Defaults->Save Startup File
@Kathleen Curry thanks and sorry for the long delay
@Thomas Burns may be you can also help me with finding Add/Armature for rigify. I am not able to find Armature (rigify is installed) I am using Blender 3.1 if this helps
Thanks !!!!! Always thanks for Blender Studio's efforts and works. :)
I m getting the same problem here as well
