This week saw the release of the official Cosmos Laundromat trailer, which you will find in Mathieu's folder alongside a new edit of the full film, with a new ending. Next to this, you'll of course find all the updated art and animations from the week plus a few new developments in the other team members' folders. Happy clicking!
Andy has been doing it all again: helping people learn caching and sims while working on his own epic tornado sims, grass interactions, rope collisions, etc.
Hjalti has been caching and fur sim testing next to his shot updates this week. See it all in this folder!
More hair-intersection issues! Luckily, Antonis has already corrected the shot found here.
In Manu's folder this week you'll find more video test renders, a new model of Cosmos Laundromat, and ultra-realistic models of the DVD and Blu-ray cases now for pre-sale in the Blender Store.
In addition to her updated animations for the week, you can see Sarah's first go at testing the hair sims and the updated breakdown of the shot corrections discussed last week.
In addition to helping everyone out with the hair system and doing some tests of his own (of Franck running) Lukas has been working on motion blur this week. See his tests in this folder.
Caching makes your computer run really slow. Slow computers lead to funny images. Here are 16 examples that get better with each pic.
What could go wrong when you cache and animate at the same time? A lot, if the screenshots you'll find here are any indication. Next to this you'll also find Beorn's sheep wool sim and his test of a whole flocking flock of island sheep.
Here you'll find the official Cosmos Laundromat trailer, the latest edit of the film (with an updated ending), and some movie posters.
Find all the content shared during Project Gooseberry's 40th weekly livecast in the team member folders to the left.
Andy has worn several different hats this week, taking over the lighting of the wide island shot from Manu as well as doing more work on the tornado shot and the grass sim for when Franck drags the branch. Plus he created a simple rig for Franck's timer. You'll find it all in this folder.
Manu spent most of his week on generating new low-res renders with the now-agreed-upon lighting set-up. In this folder you will also find stills showing the dramatic difference a change of lighting can make with before and after shots. Finally, Manu made one of his super-perfect models...this time of the Cosmos Laundromat Blu-ray case (for the store), including a rigging system!
In addition to her latest versions of the shots where Victor introduces himself, Franck sighing and turning around, the fucking hooves shot (a low-res render), and a new shot of Franck checking out his timer (which now turns), in this folder you'll find a PDF of all the animators' notes on the almost-completed shots as of Monday, May 18.
Here you'll find Lukas's cache-file comparison chart (to help him optimize cache sizes) and .blend files to test his new slicing feature.
Pablo continued working on applying the new lighting plus hair and grass sims to a bunch of shots. Click through the images and videos in this folder to see them.
Hjalti spent much of the week working on the sequence where Franck runs from the tornado, now up to and including getting sucked up into the storm. (Plus a funny bug he experienced along the way.) In addition to these shots, in the folder you'll also find new work on the shots of Franck pulling the branch and Victor walking away. These edits were the result of an animator's consistency and polishing workshop on Monday. See Sarah's folder for those notes.
Half the animation is done, there's a new full edit and version of the trailer, the lighting and designs are getting closer to final, and new developments are underway. Explore the team member's folders to see for yourself.
Download the sculpt made by Michalis Zissiou (plus the latest build of the Gooseberry branch) to try out the Dyntopo optimizations Antonis demoed during this week's livecast.
Now that Andy has got the hair sims working properly, he spent the week making sure they worked in every completed animation for Franck so far. Check out all these tests compiled into one video in this folder, plus a grass sim test and an electrifying bug.
Manu has been working on lighting not only the island but also a bunch of other shots. See them collected in a reel here plus several stills!
In addition to the shots he's polished, Beorn's week has centered around 2 things: planning and continuity. In this folder you'll find two sequences of shots he's cobbled together (one his work and the other the work of all 3 animators together), a rope glitch he had to fight, as well as his latest planning layout.
Hjalti has been animating and polishing a bunch of shots this week. Find all the latest versions here.
Find the newest edit and the latest (close-to-final) version of the trailer here!
In this folder, you will find not only Pablo's lighting and sim updates to several shots and stills but also an overview of all the changes that have taken place this week, as recorded by ATTRACT.
Sarah worked this week on the "fucking hooves" shot and the first glimpse of part of the flock munching grass as Franck drags the branch by. See a couple versions of each in the videos here (and in the continuity shot in Beorn's folder).
There is wind in the hair and other wonderful things to explore in this week's Project Gooseberry work.
Andy has dedicated his week to making the fur and grass sims work with the wind. See his evolution toward the final (successful) shot of the week in the video and stills here!
This week, Manu worked on the lighting and foamy water for the island long-shot plus lighting Victor and a shader fix for Franck's timer strap. Click through the images and video to the left to see what he's done.
Beorn has been polishing his trailer shots and starting work on some new ones ("no more sheepy business" and "Where can I go? When can I go?!"). Find these and his updated shot-list doc in this folder.
Hjalti has finished the rope-timer switch sequence and moved on to the shots where Victor backs up and walks away. See his work, complete with reference materials from himself and the actors, here!
In addition to giving some attention to the hair-sim issues (see first the video here, and then Andy's folder to see where it went from there), Pablo shows the new workflow for comp files (one file with a sequence of scenes straight from Cycles), the Essential Island Tweaker Pro 2016 (really just a way to tweak the island settings), and more lighting work...plus a hill!
After polishing the "how would you know?" shot for the trailer, Sarah moved to working on the Franck side of the "fucking hooves" conversation. See the progress on both in this folder.
In addition to an updated version of the trailer (on the Cloud), which will be finalized this week, Mathieu jumped into the hair-sim madness, focusing on putting the wind in Victor's hair, plus new renders of the new lighting set-up.
