This is a super handy rig type that you can quite liberally just sort of put all over your character to create very simple and very arbitrary lattice set-ups. Lattices are a really powerful, flexible and cheap way of mesh deformation, that can work really well in cooperation with armature deformation, or any other kind of deformation.
I cannot tell you the amount of times we ran into a deformation problem during the production of Sprite Fright, and the solution was "Let's just add a lattice." After about 6 instances of this happening, I implemented this rig type, and after that, adding a lattice setup took less than a minute.
You can get a written description of this rig type on the wiki.
Hi Demeter..Im using blender 4.2.3 LTS and trying to contraint the lattice control to middle bone following your procedure but when i click on jump to target parent of lattice it jumps to main Root control and dosent gets constrained nor it shows the meta lattice bone.any idea where im going wrong ? Thanks
@Swaraj Kanthikar Hey, I don't really understand the question, but the Jump to Target button just selects whatever object/bone is in the selector. It doesn't create constraints or anything else like that.
Hi? In blender 4.1 I get an error says "Version Mismatch detected. Download an older or newer version here" and if I press it takes me to gitlab with only CloudRig for Blender 3.5-3.6.3. My question is, is it not included in blender studio subscription?
@Ronald Francis Fugara Heya, CloudRig underwent some time consuming re-writing that resulted in skipping support for Blender 4.1. You can download latest CloudRig from here, which should work with Blender 4.2: https://projects.blender.org/Mets/CloudRig Hope that helps!
Why is the hotkey Ctrl Alt S for changing bones' radius unavailable in blender 4.0😥😥NOOOOOOOO
@Willy Xia Yeah, it's now Save As with increment or something like that, I've changed my keybinds, but you can also use the bbone scaling tool in the T panel.
Hi just testing this out. When I create the lattice bone and generate the rig, I dont see the lattice object like I see here. Is it hidden somewhere now?
@Keen Foong Yes, only the hook object is visible. You can un-hide the Root and Lattice objects in the Outliner or in the add-on's UI.
@Demeter Dzadik Yep found it thanks!
@Keen Foong Whoa, I replied a bit too fast there and totally mixed this up with something else. The lattice object should have the same visibility as whatever you gave it. But when first generating the cloud_lattice rig, the lattice object should be visible.
Super cool and intuitive setup. Thank you!
