CloudRig: Rig Types
Oct. 22nd, 2021
License: CC-BYThis rig was used to rig the spines of the Sprite Fright characters. It is however, by no means a universal super-multi-functional spine rig. It's actually fairly simple; It can do IK, FK, and IK stretch (but not squash), and will work best for fairly human-proportioned spines.
You can get a written description of this rig type on the wiki.
@Demeter Dzadik hi, can you explain "MSTR_spine_hips" which appears with green color in meta rig pose mode..in Human_Meta_Cloud_Rig....? and is that needed that bone I cannot find it in the snow rig of the 3d male character also in that snow rig I found it under spine type it's spine "cloud_spine_squashy" is selected and what about cloud_spine....? please clear all these stuff having many doughts I'm asking but other than you there is no one on the internet to whom I can resolve the issue as cloud rig is very rare content floating on the internet to learn.
@Anmol Krishna Not sure what there is to explain, just grab it and see what it does! It's just a basic hip control, nothing fancy at all. Snow has the same control, maybe it's named a bit differently.
Hi Demeter! Is there a way to have two cloud_spine types of bones in the same rig? The problem seems to be that the two torso bones generated have the same names. I'm trying to rig a dinosaur and it would be useful for the tail and the neck. Great videos by the way! Thanks ;)
@Tom Vonlanthen Oh I did find a work around actually! Simply using fk chain with the "position along bone" set to 0.5 for better deformation
hi =) say we wanted to use Cloudrig to generate rigs for game characters and export FBX to Unity or Unreal Engine - I assume that's possible and just a matter of setting up the rig correctly, but perhaps it would be of interest to people if there were some tutorials on that subject.
@Mogens Skjold I never really tried it myself, since I don't work with game engines, so I don't think I would be the best person for this. As far as I'm aware, just setting bendy bone density to 0 and not relying on bendy bones should be all that's needed.
@Demeter Dzadik thanks =) I did a little test yesterday of what you specified - seemed to work fine out of the box!
These videos are fantastic, thank you @DemeterDzadik Slightly off-topic question, but is there any reason this series is missing a section 7? A deprecated aspect of Cloud Rig perhaps?
@kgjonathan1995 Funny, I didn't think those numbers would reveal hidden chapters. There were some more videos planned than what were actually made, I didn't end up covering some of the more fringe and obvious rig types. :D
If you have a video tutorial that would be great for me
Hi Demeter Dzadik I want to rig the snake, which cloud rig should I use? Thank you!
@Tuan Anh Doan You should try cloud_spline_ik, I didn't make a video about it yet but it's documented on the wiki.
