In this video we will be beginning the modeling process of our character. Starting with the body allows us to have a solid foundation for our character while we learn about the mirror modifier, extrude tool, and many others to help us with our modeling process.
Im doing great so far. Just trying to get a feel for the program. But mine looks awesome!!
. . . kept the default cube. I see you're a man of culture as well.
hey dillon? i'm making a simple toon biped with feet and hands named max. got any tip's?
Would be helpfull if he said what the shortcuts mean like, at 3:39 when he says hit B and then G, in 2.8 I don't get thesame result.
*@Bart Van Springel* There are a ton of UI changes in 2.8, folks doing this tutorial might want to stick with 2.79.
*@Andre Germain* Thanks for the reply, I hope there will be courses soon for 2.8 ^^
Hi Dillon Gu, your tutorial is awesome and I am doing great so far. I struggle with the arms and shoulders part at 14:00 in 'The Body' part, I need a little help.
@kbehrens44: Glad you like it! What exactly are you having trouble with for the arms and shoulders? Maybe I can help :)
@Keith Behrens: Ah yes, it sounds to me like you might have your Mirror modifier and Armature modifier in the wrong order. Try moving them up and down (Mirror should be above Armature) in the modifier stack using the arrow buttons in the top right hand corner of the modifier itself.
@dillon.w.gu: Hi Dillon, I am pretty far with the Toon Character Workflow tutorial but I picked up a problem with my snowman's body later on in the Weight Painting part. When I move the snowman's arm in pose mode he splits right in the middle of his body and I can see through him; where did I go wrong? Could I send you a screenshot of my snowman?
@dillon.w.gu: I kinda figured out the problem, I will let you know when I have any further problems in the next tutorial.
Hi Dillon, wanderful tutorial, I got an issue at minute 2.27, actually switching to wireframe (Z) does not let me select internal vertices of the rounded smoothed cube, I can select only the former cube vertices. where am I wrong?
@mauromoro: In the modifer the Triangle button above copy turns on and off the cage, is that what you mean?
@mauromoro: so when you have a subsurf modifier on to round the cube, the internal vertices will not actually be editable yet until you press the "Apply' button on the modifier. Give it a try!
